Gayle Crume
Gayle Crume
Gayle grew up as an Air Force “brat” and has lived throughout the United States and Turkey and therefore can relate to individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. Mrs. Crume earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio University. Following her education she was the laboratory director of a large hospital in Montgomery, AL. Years later, Gayle lost her vision suddenly while performing her duties as a Sales Representative for a pharmaceutical company. For a while after going blind, Mrs. Crume worked for the State of Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services in the area of quality assurance. During this time, she discovered the difficulties that most newly blind individuals encounter in finding support and services to assist in adjusting to blindness.
Since then, her passion has become educating and informing businesses and individuals about the blind and ways to assist them. Mrs. Crume is a former member of the Lions Club of Alabama, and currently participates as a member of the Pensacola Beach Optimist Club, the Pensacola Beach Woman’s Club, the Pensacola Music Study Club, and the Pensacola Opera Guild. She also sings in the Opera Chorus. Gayle brings to the board of Independence for the Blind the knowledge and experience of working as a blind employee. Gayle looks forward to being able to help the blind and visually impaired community in Northwest Florida.
